A Ghost Story

  • Author's Summary: Waya suggests a test of courage. Sai, of all people, is terrified. Is the Go Institute haunted? It certainly seems that way...

A short yet deeply entertaining fic I find myself coming back to year after year.

Paper Cranes

This fic contains major spoilers.

  • Warnings: Graphic violence, whatever the spiritual equivalent of body horror is?
  • Characters: Hikaru, Akira, Akari, Waya, Isumi, Yashiro, a priest, a bunch of kitsune, and Sai not really appearing but haunting the narrative as usual
  • Author's Summary: Two years passed before Hikaru admitted, reluctantly, that possession by a spirit seemed to have long-lasting side effects which probably wouldn’t go away on their own.

It seems like this is The HikaGo Fic that always gets recommended, and for good reason, though it has been unfinished and MIA since 2018. A supernatural thriller heavily entwined with Japanese folk tradition, and the HikaGo standard absolute emotional devastation.

  • Author's Summary: The first time Hikaru had printed one of Sai's kifu it was because Sai was making a fuss about one of his opponent's moves and Hikaru didn't really have the time to humour the ghost at the moment.

Three's a Crowd

  • Characters: Hikaru, Sai, Akira, Akari, and their merry friends
  • Author's Summary: Moving out for the first time is never easy. There's so much to deal with: finding an apartment, moving in, getting along with your roommate, trying to prove whether or not your roommate is possessed and/or mind controlled by aliens without letting him notice, dishes, laundry, groceries, making sure your roommate doesn't find out about your secret ghost third roommate, cooking, cleaning...
    Hikaru and Akira move in together, with Sai in tow. Surely this will work out completely fine!

A fic I've had ruminating in the back of my mind for years now, but only actually put to page this year. A rather sitcom-esque (albeit not without drama!) slice-of-life about Hikaru, Sai, and Akira sharing an apartment, and the difficulties that come with having a ghost roommate. This has been really interesting to write, as someone who generally hangs out somewhere in the gothic horror/thriller side of writing, lol. I hope you enjoy it!
